I've been following the Brewers of course, and they continue to hold off the Cardinals for first place. Thanks in large part to being mostly injury free for the season. Mike Fiers has stepped in nicely when Garza got hurt. The troubling thing is the Brewers are only a game or two over .500 since early May. If they do hang on for a playoff spot, they will need to play better than .500 to go deep into the post season.
The Pirates are another team that really interests me. As I write this the Buccos are 3 and 1/2 games back of the Cards and even closer to the Giants who currently would hold the 2nd WC slot. This is shaping up to be a wild finish with a lot of teams in the hunt for the wild card.

Ugh, just watched the Padres beat the Brewers tonight. Neither team deserved to win that game, but somebody had to. Padres walked off in the 10th for a 3-2 victory. Krod has been giving up to many home runs lately. sigh
The Pirates won, so its not all bad.

I've been following the Brewers of course, and they continue to hold off the Cardinals for first place. The Cards have won 5 out of the last 7 vs the Crew and we play them 7 more times this year. No way do the Brewers hold off the Cards. We may get Molina back on Friday. If not Friday, just a few days later. The Brewers will be lucky to hang on for a wild card.

Molina should give the Cards a boost, provided he hasn't lost his swing. The Brewers should be getting Garza back soon as well. Its likely that when Garza comes back Jimmy Nelson would get moved to the bullpen. The Brewers BP has really dropped off in the second half. Should be a great race. Just hope that a team steps up and it isn't won by default. Seems like the entire central division is playing .500 ball at the moment.

Getting Garza back won't help the Brewers, his replacement has posted a lower ERA. Krod as given up 12 homers and he is done. He isn't a true closer, no velocity. The Cardinals will assume their rightful place atop the division like always.

Brewers out scored 31 to 8 in the 3 game series with the Giants. I'd say that they are done. There bullpen appears to be used up. Offense has always been to free swinging to stay consistent. I see them missing the playoffs and it could be the Giants that edge them out for the last WC.

I don't think any team from the central division advances past the 1st round. All their bullpens are suspect. Giants, Dodgers and Nationals are the 3 teams to watch for. As far as the American league, well that isn't real baseball.

The Brewers are sure struggling right now. First there hitting went away, then their defense. I was hoping that the chase would be competitive but unless things turn fast, the Crew seems intent and just giving it away.

The Cards will just steam roll the division now and win by 5 games pulling away. We get Wacha back in a few days just in time for the playoff stretch. The Cards stayed even while they were down a few of their best players, now that were at full strength we should challenge for another ring!

The Pirates are the only team that concerns me in the central. The Brewers are out of it since we play them 3 more times. We don't face the Pirates again and they have an easy schedule. Sure they have a series with the Braves left, but the Braves are fading fast like they always do this time of year.

Well, all in all the pennant races have fizzled out and even the wild card doesn't seem too exciting. Its like the more things change the more they stay the same. Personally I'd like to see Pittsburgh go deep into the playoffs this year. In the AL I am rooting for the Orioles. Would be nice to get 2 teams in the WS who have not been there in a while.
